new card and a layout

hello people!

i have to say i'm quite impressed with myself this week, i've made a card, a layout and 2 new videos (not edited yet...)  dare i say that my mojo has decided to come back! (i probably just jinxed it...)

anyways, i created the new card and layout for the Hip Kit Club DT call (which i'm really hoping to get on) their kits are so so yummy! and being on a DT pushed me to create on a regular basis since there are deadlines.  Send good vibes my way, would you please? i'm keeping my fingers crossed!

for this layout i figured i'd hit 2 birds with 1 stone and was inspired by the creative scrappers sketch #260

i made a video of the process of making this card and another on how to color your own ribbon.  i'll be posting these shortly.

thanks for stopping by!

missing in action! Photo bombing!

well ok, it's not as dramatic as my title sounds!  everyone is fine :)
however, my cards and layouts have been missing from my blog.  I have been creating, just not updating my blog.  shame on me!  Here are a few things i've created that have never been posted.

sorry for the bad picture on this one...

Good News!

last night i received an email from Jackie Ludlage over at Canadian Scrapbooker requesting one of my layouts for the Summer 2013 issue!  you have no idea how good it felt to receive that email.  it's been so long (at least 2 yrs) since my last publication.  hmmmm... maybe i should start scrapbooking more so that i have more to submit...

getting back in the game!

So i realized that i was missing being a part of a design team so over the last few months i've been on the look out and this week I applied to 3 different DT posts.  With that i started looking over my blog, knowing full well that I hadn't done a good upkeep and realized there were some layouts that (i don't think) i'd ever published. So here they are most recent to oldest.
a quick valentine's day tag that will probably be added to a card in the futur

this year's Santa layout (i'm not really liking it that much, but hey what are you gonna do about it) and yes i just noticed that i forgot the "I" in the title.  For real this is all my boys had on their list for Santa.

this is one of my favorite layouts lately.  I used one of the pictures the photographer took of my boys at my sister's wedding this summer.  photo by Joi Photography

thanks for dropping by,
i've got something (i think) pretty cool coming up so tune back in.

Lucky 7 Factory crop

Hello,

i have layouts to share!!!!  yay!
yesterday i spent the day cropping with my buddies Claude, Erin, JJ and Eliane at the all-day crop organized by Lucky 7 Factory.  For those who don't know who they are well they are a Quebec scrapbook papers and embellishments company.  We all received lots of goodies, they do a lot of embellies by hand which is nice.  The crop was extreamly well organized and the food was good too!

unfortunately i arrived late due to a family emergency but i still managed to make 4 layouts and 1 card.  I think it helped that there was a 30 min challenge and a "musical page" challenge.  That last one was interesting enough, we each started a page and after 5 min we'd pass it to the person to our left, we were 5 at our table so all 5 did something on all 5 layouts - not 1 came out looking similar.  Mine ended up very eccletic, i had just arrived and hadn't unpacked yet so i just grabbed a stencil and some ink, i did some ink drop on the too but used a paper towel to absorb it and it smeared, looks a bit like a nose bleed but other that that i like it.

this is the "musical page" layout. see what i mean by nose bleed...

K-time
here's what i know was used...
washi tape, dylusionals, Balzer design stencil, Ranger distress ink, AC thickers

the 30 min challenge - i'm finding this one a little too plain so i think i'm gonna be adding something; maybe some clouds using a texture medium - i'll repost it when i'm done with it
One fine day

first layout of 2012, hopefully not the last

ok so this is a good start to the year.  as you've all noticed (for those of you who still check out my blog) i haven't scrapped a layout in quite some time!  So two of my friends are on the "Let's capture these sketches" so i thought i'd check them out and play along. This is for Sketch challenge #114 or 115 i'm not sure since there are two numbers on the blog post... anyhow here it is, i'm only missing Charlie's answers to the questions so i'll do it tomorrow morning.

OMG! is THAT a layout!?!?!?

that's right, i actually found some mojo to do a layout.  this is the first one since the fire.  ok, so i didn't really have materials for a while and then i really wanted to make one but the mojo just wasn't there.  I managed to make a few cards in the last couple of months but that was pretty much it.  last month my friend Eliane came over and i was planning on making this exact layout, i knew how i wanted it to look but we ended up not scrapping at all.  for one we talked a lot, which was good - we both needed it.  and two i did try to get started but i just couldn't find that "Oumf" to get started.
BUT last week i went to Scrapbook Centrale to scrap with my girlfriends and i actually managed to start AND finish this layout!  i'm really happy with it.

here are two close ups of the details.  for the flowers on the bottom corner i used the pink paislee/house of three ribbon and just glued them on a 1.5 in double sided tape circle that i punched out of a double-sided adhesive sheet.  Since the Cosmo Cricket Glubers aren't out yet i kinda made my own... the silver and blue are the original colors of the ribbon but the dark grey one used to be white - i sprayed it with Maya Road mist.

materials:
cs: BoBunny
pp: MME
ink: Ranger distress (weathered wood), copic multiliner (black)
other: Pink Paislee/house of three ribbon, Prima bling, Magnolia flowers, Maya Road mist, Maya Road pins, Martha Stewart border punch, Nestabilities Grand Label four

As seen in Canadian Scrapbooker

Hi All!

a while ago i was asked to participate in the cover challenge for the summer issue of Canadian Scrapbooker, unfortunately i didn't make the cover but i did make it as one of the runner-ups.  You can find  my layout on the first page after the table of contents.  sorry i would give you the exact page numbers but i haven't gotten my free copy yet and my subscription just ran out.

so here's the layout i made for the cover.

materials:
cs: bazzill, doodlebug
pp: Jillibean Soup
ribbon: Maya Road
stamp: Stamping Bella
ink: Memento, copic (R59 on letter stickers to darken them), glimmer mist (lime and denim), zig marker
letters: Doodlebug, Rose Moka
other: Fiskars upper crest punch, Martha Stewart butterfly punch

isn't this little guy cute!

I also have two other layouts that were published in this issue... much older ones but i guess they were what they were looking for.

this was for a call for pictures with different views. It was also made while i was on the Just Cre8 DT with i believe the april or the may kit in 2008, don't remember the exact month.

And this is one of my favorites.  I never thought it would get picked up because there's not much work involved in making it, but the picture is just stunning, isn't it?  my hubby took it with his underwater camera when he went cenote diving in Playa Del Carmen, are you wondering where i was?  well i was back at the dive shop getting my certification, too bad i haven't had a chance to go diving since... hopefully soon.

oh yeah i almost forgot to tell you.... i was asked to try out for the fall cover challenge and they picked my layout to be published, i don't know yet if it's gonna be for the cover or as a finalist so i guess we'll have to wait and see. cross your fingers x x

updated: If you have this issue in your hands, you can see my layout on page 8,33 and 109! Three of my super talented friends are also in this issue: JJ (p.130), Erin (p.34) and Claude (p.45).

day two of PWCO reveal

My boys went to see Santa this week! I altered Jacob from the Jacob and cookies for Santa stamp to fit him nicely in the airplane! Also I used a paint dabber with white paint to create a sort of snow from on my picture; I'm really happy with the way this turned out.

supplies used:

paper: Collage Press "Joyride collection"

stamps: Little Loud Stamps - Jacob and cookies for Santa

colors: Memento black, Copics, Versa Magic (Jumbo Java), Copic liner black, Zig writer brown/black

accessories: creative cafe rub-on, stickles (sequins, Gold), Ranger acrylic paint dabber (white), Fiskars corner rounder squeeze punch, AC thickers, HS distresser tool

I cannot wait to work with this great design team and to help showcase the awesome stamps that Peggy has in the store!

Thanks Peggy for inviting me to join your team!

a few cards, a layout and a cake...yes another one!

i took another cake decorating class at Creations Gourmandes; this one was a Halloween themed cake shaped like a pumpkin. it was fun we learned how to carve a stacked cake into a pumpkin shape (which would also make a great x-mas ornement or with a straighter bottom - a great igloo, which i might just make during the holidays...i can already see little fondant penguins!) we worked with Almond paste instead of fondant, i think it's way yummier! isn't that little mouse the cutest! i am gonna enjoy eating his little almond paste butt!

Ok now onto the cards,

materials: cs: doodlebug
pp: Jillibean
chipboard: maya road
letters: carolee's creations
ribbon: ? i never remember these!
other: EK success border punch, stickles, pop-dots
materials:
cs: bazzill
pp, stickers: cosmo cricket
ribbon: ? again same ribbon, don't remember
stamp: impression obsession
ink: memento
other: copic markers, stickles, pop-dots, spellbinders nestabilities

And i just realized that i never posted the last mixer. it was a sketch challenge, you can see it here. Unfortunately Mel has decided to close MIU due to the lack of time to keep it up - it's totally understandable, she has a crazy busy life! but i do want to thank her for asking me to be a part of it since the beginning and doing the banners for the site, that was fun.
