home with a sick kid...kinda

i'm home today because Brady was sick yesterday at daycare - he threw up at daycare, in the car on the way home and once more at home. Today he's like nothing happened yesterday (same thing happened last friday, he was sick 3x and then was fine the rest of the week-end) but daycare rules state that we have to wait 24 hrs before re-intergrating him with the other kids in case it's the flu. So this morning i made a banana bread with some bananas i had stashed in the freezer when they got to ripe, it smells really good in the house right now. I'm also making a ham in my crock-pot for supper. i coated it with a mix of Dijon mustard and brown sugar, i then poured a bear over top and set it on low for 6 hrs. it should be really yummy!

so i figured it was about time i posted some pics of the cottage we spent our vacation at a few weeks ago. Like last year (see this post) we rented a cottage by the sea in Cap-Pele, NB. This year the cottage was so much better than last year's. First of all it was newer (only 6 yrs old) we were directly on the shore, nobody in front of us like last year. There was this really nice 4 season veranda (we didn't get eaten by mosquitoes!) that we ate all our meals on and spent most of our time there. And the master bedroom was on a mezzanine facing the windows. one morning Brady woke me up at 5am, after i put him back in bed i just laid in bed looking out the windows at the gorgeous sunrise, the horizon was painted with shades of orange, pinks and fuchsias. it was totally gorgeous! so i leave you with some pictures of the cottage and the kids playing outside.

oh yeah! we also drove down to the PEI bridge. we didn't cross 'cause it was 42$ (i think) and we didn't really have anything planned on the island. that'll be for another year.
The boys with their half-sister, it's unbelievable how much they all resemble each other, you'd swear she was my daughter too!
back at the cottage.

mixer #26

this week's mixer was based on this piece of design. How great is that?! i just love the colors and the repetition of shapes. i used Juliana's sketch as is, because it was so awesome but got inspired by the colors.

here's my layout, you can see the other girls' mixer here.

i hate that the photo seems dark, it's much brighter on my MAC (i don`t know if that would make a difference...)

Mixer 24 & a few cards...

First off here is mixer 24, this is the first mixer with our new DT members and they really rocked it! check it out! Juliana created a really great sketch for us this week and the challenge was to use a picture of ourself that was at least 20 yrs old! since my mom has my albums my choices were kinda limited, but i did have these cute (at least i think so) pics of myself when i was 7 or 8 months old. i used the Basic Grey Lemonade collection ( i really like this collection!)

Like i said in a prior post, i've been really into making cards lately. here are a few of my latest creations.

This one is with Hanna Stamp "But i need it..." stamps, for my friend's birthday this week-end, inside there is a pocket for a gift card

a thank you card (with gift card inside) for a friend (not saying hou!) Stampavie owl stamp designed by Rachelle Ann Miller

a "friend" card that i did for this week's Bellarifi Friday challenge over on the Stampin' Bellablog! I used the "Yoko & Ono Ketto" stamp; i love it it's so cute!

a baby card or a kid card with the name starting with B that i did with American Crafts a few months ago!

and this one, i wanted to keep for myself but i made it specifically for a co-worker that needed a card for a girl baptism, of course i forgot to measure it to see if it would fir in the envelope before cutting, it was too big so i had to make and envelope to fit. it turned out good.

a cute card with some critter stamps (sorry i can't remember the company) i made this a while ago (in the spring i think) when i first started playing with my Copic markers

a very simple card make with Label Tulip stamp.

that's it for today; thanks for stopping by!

mixer 23 is up!

Good morning!

Yesterday was Quebec's national holiday called “la St-Jean Batiste” we usually don’t celebrate it other than having a day off work! Yesterday was no exception, Dave was away on business (so he had to work) and I had to finish packing up my dad’s apartment.
Just a little side note; my dad is still in the hospital and they (finally) find the reason why he started having huge amounts of pain again; his bowels are leaking on the inside and not everything is coming out in the bag so he has liquid inside his abdomen which is causing him pain. They don’t want to operate right away because they are planning to operate at the end of July for the hernia and will try to fix everything at once. I just hope they don’t do it while we are away on vacation, somebody should be there with him. And let’s hope that this time around there won’t be any complications and that the healing afterwards will be easier than the first time around. So with all that said we decided to let go of his apartment and save 700$ a month.
Since DH was gone and daycare was closed, my parents-in-law came over to stay with the kids while I went to my dad’s. All is packed up, now I just have to get the boxes out, as of last Saturday my storage unit still wasn’t available… I have to call the guy today and see what’s up?
What sucks is that today it feels like its Monday! Ok it’ll be a short week! Next week will be the same since we are off on Wednesday for Canada Day!

With all that said I had some good scrappy mail this week! Finally got my Hanna Stamps (I had loads of fun stamping last night) unfortunately the order was short 1 stamp that is paid for, the packing slip and invoice both say it was shipped but it was not in the envelope. I did write them an email but will have to wait until they return from vacation for an answer. AND I received my June kit from Love is in the Details, it was so gorgeous I just had to get it! Claude is coming over Saturday for a scrap day so guess what I’ll be playing with!!!! I can’t wait, I just love my scrap days with Claude, it’s so much fun even if I don’t get too much done because the kids do keep me busy. I’m kinda hoping for rain so I don’t feel too guilty for not going outside with them (we don’t have a fence, so I can’t just send them out in the yard) usually a scrap day for mommy is a movie day for the kids.

Last but not least yesterday was the reveal for Mixer 23! The girls really outdone themselves, like every week. This week's Mixer is a recipe formula! Your layout must include the following items;
• minimum of 4 pictures
• minimum of 4 different manufacturers
• handwritten journaling
• flowers

Here’s mine, I didn’t follow the sketch although I was planning to but when I started putting my papers down it took on a whole other direction.
I used Fancy Pants (papers and journaling tag), Pebbles Inc (papers), American Craft (buttons), Rose Moka (letters) and then i have Ranger stickles, a Magenta template and my Zig marker. I’m really loving how it turned out.
Don’t forget the deadline for the DT call is tomorrow!

thanks for stopping by!

a few cards

Friday night i went to the crop at Scrapbook Central, everything in the store was 25% off because they were starting inventory today and wanted to clear as much as they could before having to count everything. i got these two really cute stamps; Yoko and Ono Ketto that you can see on my card below and Agnes Ketto; this one i haven't used yet. Both stamps are from Stamping Bella. i also took the opportunity to make father's day cards for my dad (who's still at the hospital) and my hubby (from the kids of course!) Hope you like them!

thanks for stopping by!
