short update

i got a job!!! i will be working Customer Service at the head office of Fruits et Passion in Candiac, it's great...only 20 min from the daycare. I start on Nov 19th and i have plenty to do before starting, i did however get a few scrapbooking projects done i just haven't taken the pics yet. soon i promise.

as requested by my mom, here are a few pics of the boys. (i've been lacking in that department too!)

so i want to thank everyone whose supported me through out the gr8 cre8tive idol contest at Just Cre8. Unfortunately i was eliminated during the last round, thanks to all who sent me notes of encouragement and support. I make it sound like it was the end of the world (it isn't) but i was very, very disappointed.



Today i went to the hairdresser's to get a new do. i got my hair colored brown (permanent color) this time and a new cut. I needed a change and i'm hoping this will bring me luck in my job search.

OK, so this past week was Brady's 3rd birthday. He chose the theme...Cars. He also love's Diego and Curious George so i managed to celebrate with all 3 characters. I had made cupcakes to bring at daycare, on these i put little Diego figurines for the kids.



For at home that night i took the same cupcakes and put a Curious George on Brady's with candles.


Here's a picture of Brady and Charlie the day of his birthday. Brady got a bycicle with training wheels from us (he just loves it!) and a Diego coloring book and "the Jungle book" movie from Granpapi (my dad)


Then on Sunday i had a party with some of his friends and family, he got lots of CARS hotwheels and other CARS stuff, we had a really good time and Brady really enjoyed himself. Of course the cake was Lightning McQueen, Brady had chosen the cake mold a few months back (this was the first time i was using a character mold) so i baked the cake on friday, iced it on saturday (took me almost 3 hrs)and we ate it on sunday afternoon. I'm really happy with the way it turned out, but i'm not sure i'd do the "star" icing technique again, it was really long!

Today is Brady's birthday party, he's 3! his actual b-day was last tuesday, but the party is today. In 1h30 hrs to be exact, so i gotta go and get some things finished!
I'll post some pictures later ( i spent about 3 hrs icing the cake yesterday)

i just got a call for an interview, tomorrow, at Fruits et Passion for a customer service position. Cross your fingers for me, i need to find a job.

I made it to the 3rd round! finished with the most votes...17!!! that 11 more than last round. I'm dumbfounded! Thank you sooooo much to everybody that voted for me. the next challenge voting will take place next saturday between 10am and 10pm.

on another note, we went apple picking last week at la Pommeraie d'Or in Rougemont. it's the best place ever! there's a petting farm, a fenced in playground, tourtiere and really good doughnuts... oh yeah and apples too! Here are a few pics.

Just Cre8!

Is having a mega "Revive & Rejuven8" online crop this week-end, check them out here. I'll also be taking part in their "Gr8 Cre8tive Idol" contest, so please register on their forum and vote for my layout, here. Voting starts on Oct 5th starting at 8 pm until Oct 6th 11h59 pm. This contest will take place over the next 6 weeks, the winner will be a part of their design team for 3 months. I really want this...it's like a second chance since i wasn't picked the first time around when they were looking for Design Team members. This site has awesome kits and they make their own stamps too.

i'm so excited! My photography classes are starting tonight. I'm starting with Camera Basics. i'm finally gonna learn how to 'really' use my camera in manual mode!

on another note, my FIL has been transferred to a rehab hospital in Laval.
Still no news for my dad.

new layout

i made this layout this morning. I'm taking a month long, online class at Big Picture Scrapbooking. This is one of the pages we had to do. Gretchen (our teacher) wanted us to use our favorite color combo and get inspired by her sketch. Here's my layout. here are two other little projects i loved doing. A journaling tag and some gift tags.

routine, routine

everything is routine. it seems like i haven't been doing much lately other than surf the web, alot, probably too much! I have been scrapping too! i just can't post my pages yet because i made them for specific magazine calls and have to wait for the submission deadline to pass. I'm hoping something gets picked up, i've submitted 11 different pages.

a few weeks ago, my dad had a small surgical procedure to remove some tumors that were found in his bladder, we're still waiting for the results of the biopsy. My father-in-law is doing much better i went to visit him on wednesday. He started his physio therapy and Ergotherapy, he's learning to re-use and strenghten his arm and leg. He should be transfered to a rehab hospital this week.

My kids are amazing! Brady was so good at the hospital when we went to visit his Papi. And he's so sweet, he gives me the biggest kisses and hugs, it's great! He's talking more and more now and the things that come out of his mouth just make me laugh!
Charlie is gonna be an intellectual (well we had already determined that earlier on) but now he started doing this comptine they do at daycare (pik, pik pik tap, tap, tap, roule, roule, roule, cache, cache, cache COUCOU !) well he actually started doing the pik, pik motion in his hand and he's trying hard like hell to tap his hands and I swear when he was doing it yesterday i heard him say "Tah Tah" while trying to tap his hands. (i just don't remember Brady doing this at his age, but on the other hand Brady was doing other things that Charlie doesn't do yet) He's repeating a lot of sounds that we make like "Hi" and he says "maman" sometimes "papa" and he also likes to repeat movements and actions. For example when he's in his high chair he'll tap the table top, so i imitate him and do the same, so he taps again and i always imitate his exact action. He thinks it's so funny and he loves it!

Also he started eating solids, a while ago actually. oh and when i say solids i'm talking about adult food and not puree. about 4 weeks ago i started giving him toast, then slowly gave him soft veggies, then last week i gave him spaghetti. OMG!!! he LOVED it! He seems to prefer pieces of food than pureed food (do you blame him?!) Check him out!

very late phone call

1h30 AM....phone rings. run downstairs to get it (because the phone in the bedroom has been misplaced) It's my brother-in-law calling to tell us that my father-in-law was just brought to the hospital, they think it might be a heart attack. Dave went to be with his mom and brother and i'm here at home, can't go back to sleep...

3h00 AM Ok so i just got a call from hubby with an update. My Father-in-law had a small stroke. the docs say that everything else looks fine...for now. They'll see a stroke specialist tomorrow morning. so now Dave is driving my MIL back home and are gonna try to get a few hours of sleep before heading back to the hospital.

Boy when it rains it pours. Last week my dad got a small operation. A while back he started pissing blood, so he went to see a urologist. The did a cystoscopy and found tumors (now let's remember that doctor's use this term in reference to a mass) in his bladder. Last thursday he went in for a biopsy, they also found something funny on the prostate so took a piece of that too. We should get the results in about a month to know if they are cancerous.

Next week my parents-in-law were supposed to leave for Banff for their 40th wedding anniversary. A trip that my hubby and his brother had planned in the last 6 months. I guess all that will have to be cancelled or postponed. My FIL will have to do some physio, he has weakness on his right side. He got very lucky in his bad luck, it could've been a lot worse.

Ok i'm off to bed to try and get some sleep.

Ok so on Saturday my hubby and I bought ourselves a little treat. Our coffee machine (just a regular percolator) wasn't working very well and we had to change it soon. What you must know is that we're both big fans of Starbucks coffee, and at 5$ a pop it's getting quite expensive. so we bought ourselves this loverly gadget! Let me tell you it was money well spent, we've used it at least 2-3/day.

new weekly challenge

I got the MM newsletter last week and checked out this weekly challenge that was started by 2007 MMMaster Crystal Jeffrey and i decided to join in. Here was the challenge: Ok for the background of your page I want you to use part of a magazine. Any part! Paste it on in any manner you choose. You can just cut a square from it, you can tear and layer it - just play around.

Next I want you to find an interesting object and make it into a stamp. Now don't play it safe - find something you would never normally use. Could be the bottom of a tic tac container, a piece of crumpled paper, a stick - just look at the world around you and see what you can find. You want to start training yourself to look at your surroundings in new ways. You might be surprised what you find. Stamp on your page using ink, paint, dirt...anything you want!

Last thing I want you to add is a word that sums up what this journal is all about for you today. This may change over time but think about what it means to you today. Add it to you page. If you feel you want to add more words you can or leave it as it.

Add anything else you want to your page so that you feel it is complete. It is your page that you are making just for you. There will be no one to judge it or tell you that you did it wrong. If it doesn't turn out the way you expected then that is ok. As you play around more you will relax and you pages will start to turn out as you want. Funny, but relaxing your creative rules sometimes take practice!

So here is what i made.

so i wanted just writting in the backround so i tore up some pieces of a magazine article. Then i wanted to have coffee stains on it, so i used my Starbucks coffee cup that i drank that day and some leftover coffee, unfortunately it faded a lot when it dried so we can't see it very much but hey it was a first try and i decided to leave it as is. That's what these exercise are all about right, trying new techniques.

i'll be back with an update shortly but you have got to go visit this lady's blog, she's absolutely hilarious and i hope she writes a book someday!

in need of an update

Me thinks, i've let myself go! it's been a while since my last post...sorry to the few that actually come and read me. Last wednesday (the 25th) the girls (Sabee, MissKarine, JosieSensi) came over for a crop. I finished my little album in souvenir of my trip to NB with the boys. On friday i got the good visit from my high school friend Christina, she was driving through on her way to Ottawa, and i got to meet her beau Chris. He's seems like a real sweetie. Saturday Emilie went back home after a month long visit, it went by a lot faster than i thought. So Dave took Charlie with him and drove her to Drummondville where they met up with her mom. During which time i took Brady to the movies to go see Ratatouille. I think he needed this special time with me alone because he spent all of July having to fight for attention because there was one more kid than usual. He's slowly gotten a little better this week, he's listening a bit more. But he still pushes my buttons so bad! i swear i think he does it on purpose!!! On the scrapbooking side i've finished up my NB souvenir album (i entered it in a contest, they were supposed to annouce the winner yesterday but it hasn't been posted yet so who knows!?) then i did a layout for a DT submission, which i'm hoping i'll get but they'll be abboucing that one on Aug 15th so i can't show you my LO until then, and lastly i did a layout for a sscraplift challenge on SC, i think it turned out great! Once the challenge is finished (i think mid-Aug) i'll post my LO. I don't know if i can post it before. i'll be back tonight to post the pics of my mini-book.
